Hernan Salamanco was born in Buenos Aires in 1974, where he currently lives and works. He studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, Argentina and the Royale Academie de Beaux Arts, Belgium, and has exhibited in galleries and museums all over the world.
Hernan Salamanco's main practice is the application of media onto surfaces or textures that they often vastly contrast with, most commonly painting enamel onto metal, in order to create a private dialogue between the medium and the surface. His choices in media are frequently referential and loaded with meaning which in turn serves to extend, complement or analogise the subject of the piece.
His works are often unnerving, hazy, and throw up more questions than they do answers.
